Sub-System Retirement

Home Header

As part of Murray Irrigation's PIIOP project, the company is implementing a Sub-System Retirement (SSR) project.

This project involves the voluntary strategic retirement of landholdings from Murray Irrigation's area of operations and disconnection from related channel delivery system infrastructure.

The SSR project involves 30 landholdings, broadly located south and west of Moulamein.

Funding is provided to enable the conversion to dryland farming for these landholdings and the installation of an alternate source of stock and domestic water supply.

Total length of channel to be decommissioned is in excess of 35km, with onsite channel decommissioning works expected
to be completed in October 2016.

Participation in the project is voluntary for landholders.

As part of the project, landholders transfer their water entitlements to the Commonwealth. They also terminate their delivery entitlements and associated shares in Murray Irrigation.

The SSR project is part of PIIOP Round 2. Murray Irrigation successfully received funding for the PIIOP Round 2 project in 2012. The SSR project under PIIOP Round 2 is fully subscribed.

For all enquiries regarding channel decommissioning works, contact PIIOP Project Engineer Jarryd Pearce on M. 0428 168 636.

Sub-System Retirement Supplier Panel

A requirement of Australian Government funding is that these landholders are required to select suppliers that either supply materials or do works on their property, from a Supplier Panel. The purpose of this panel is to ensure that suppliers provide quality products or works, value-for-money and meet workplace health and safety standards.

Please note that acceptance on the Sub-System Retirement Supplier Panel is not a guarantee of work.
