Shareholder Discussion Groups – Sentiment Report

4 November 2024

During September, Murray Irrigation hosted a round of Shareholder discussion groups to ensure we understand shareholder sentiment around the Federal Government’s intent to undertake further water buybacks in the region.

The discussions aimed to gather constructive shareholder input on how the company and shareholders can work together to minimise the impact of buybacks on Murray Irrigation, our customers and the community.

The level of engagement from shareholders was very pleasing, with participation representing almost 30 per cent of 2023/24 water usage.

Overall, feedback from shareholders was very positive and has given the Board confidence to pursue company initiatives such as:

  • A Government feasibility study, if funding is granted.
  • Continued commercial discussions with the Commonwealth Environmental Water Office (CEWO) and Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA).
  • Exploration and further research into new water market initiatives or products to assist in retaining irrigation water within the Murray Irrigation footprint.

As part of the discussion groups, Murray Irrigation committed to provide shareholders with a sentiment report, summarising what we heard in the meetings and next steps.

This sentiment report is now available and can be downloaded via the button below.

We thank all shareholders who took the time to participate in the discussion groups and look forward to further engagement and providing further updates as ideas and initiatives are progressed.
