2024 Annual General Meeting - 27 November

Murray Irrigation is hosting our 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 27 November.

Similar to last year, this will be a hybrid meeting which will enable shareholders to attend either in person or online.

The meeting details are as follows:

Time: 
10.00am (NSW time). Registrations will commence at 9.30am. 


Shareholders who have an email address registered with the company should by now have received an email from our facilitator, Link Market Services, containing Notice of Meeting, your unique voting information, and instructions on how to participate in the AGM.

It may be worth checking your junk email if you are yet to receive these details in your inbox. 

Shareholders who do not have an email address registered with the company will be receiving this same information via post shortly. All relevant information, including the Notice of Meeting, Murray Irrigation's 2024 Annual Report and instructions on how to attend and vote, can be found on our company webpage below. 


Voting key dates : 


  • 1 November - 25 November: Online voting open. Shareholders who wish to cast their votes ahead of the AGM must do so before 10.00am on Monday 25 November.
  • 24 November: To be eligible to vote, shareholders must have paid all fees presently due and payable by 10:00am on Sunday 24 November. Shareholders who have a formal payment arrangement in place and are meeting the terms of their arrangement as at 10:00am Sunday 24 November are also eligible to vote. 
  • 25 November: Completed Voting/Proxy Form must be returned to the company by 10.00am on Monday 25 November. 
  • 27 November: Shareholders who are attending the AGM in person or online will be able to vote directly during the meeting.

Positive change, positive future 

In the lead up to the 2024 AGM, and in response to shareholder interest, Murray Irrigation is pleased to outline the process involved in the appointment of the four replacement Member Directors, Gabrielle Coupland, Noel Graham AM, Geoff McLeod and Leanne Small, to the Board following the April general meeting.
 
The below media release highlights the comprehensive work undertaken by the Board-appointed Independent Selection Committee to effectively facilitate the recruitment of these four Member Directors, who bring with them a range of experience and skill sets and are contributing to positive change in both the company and Board culture.

Shareholders will have the opportunity to support these four appointments by resolution, together with the appointment of Robert Burbury for his second term as a Non-Member Director, at the company's upcoming AGM on 27 November.

IPART water price review - Have your say 

As communicated in last Friday's Customer Update, Murray Irrigation is preparing a formal submission to the NSW Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunals (IPART) voicing our opposition to WaterNSW's 2025-2030 Pricing Proposal, which is seeking prices to more than double over the five years from 1 July 2025.

We are encouraging customers to also provide your views to IPART regarding the impacts of price increases on your farm business.

Bob Hawke Landcare Award nominations 

Nominations for the 2025 Bob Hawke Landcare Award are now open.


This prestigious national award publicly recognises an individual, group or organisation that has been involved in championing landcare and inspiring others to take action on their property or in their community. It acknowledges the remarkable commitment to improving land and natural asset management, and promotional efforts to share knowledge and support others.



The 2025 recipient will be awarded a grant package to the value of $30,000 (ex GST) for further development of their knowledge and skills in sustainable land management to enable an even stronger contribution to landcare.

Nominations close on Saturday 31 December.

Planning forward on reduced seasonal returns 

At this free online GRDC Farm Business Event being held on Friday 8 November, guest presenter Tony Hudson will outline the practical steps to assessing seasonal returns and planning forward for another production cycle, together with the expenses that will need to be met. 

This presentation will Include an outline of the available levers that can be pulled and up to date information about accessing bank or third party credit lines.

This session will run from 1.00pm to 2.00pm.

2025 Jan Cathcart Scholarship for women in rice

SunRice is calling for applications for the 2025 Jan Cathcart Scholarship.

This Scholarship is open to women involved in the Australian rice industry, undertaking or considering tertiary studies next year.

Valued at up to $30,000, past recipients have benefited and are continuing to benefit, from educational and professional opportunities, within the industry after their university graduation. The Scholarship, now in its 11th year, is an excellent way for existing and potential students to receive financial support and to assist with the development of their career.
