Last Wednesday, Murray Irrigation hosted Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder Dr Simon Banks and other CEWO key staff on a tour of the local area to showcase the work being undertaken through our environmental watering initiative, Restoring Murray Waterways (RMW), and to explore how this project may further be expanded to support the environment.
The delegation visited a number of sites which could be potentially rejuvenated under stage four of the Commonwealth funded RMW project, and inspected Murray Irrigation's Mascotte Escape site and creek structures, which has been upgraded to deliver environmental water into the Jimaringle-Cockran creek system.
The guests also visited Lake Agnes and other wetlands near Moulamein (as pictured below) to view the progress of work Murray Irrigation has been carrying out in collaboration with local landholders and the CEWO to deliver environmental water, and to discuss ideas where further funds could be utilised to deliver environmental outcomes.
The tour finished with a stop-over at the Wakool Tullakool Sub Surface Drainage System.
