Thank you to all our customers who have placed their autumn water orders.
Please note that, as of Monday 1 May, four days’ notice is required for all new order starts. If you would like earlier delivery, please send a message with your order.
All new orders will be reviewed each afternoon and customers will be advised if earlier delivery is available.
In maintenance areas where no current or future orders exist, drawdown may begin sooner than these dates. In these circumstances, customers will be directly communicated with.
After the guaranteed delivery date, access to water delivery, including stock and domestic water, is opportunistic and cannot be guaranteed.
You may see water levels drop as we begin to drain or prepare to harvest water ahead of offtake closures.
We will continue to assess the current and future orders each day and will let you know if any of the above dates change.
For more information on Murray Irrigation's Winter Operations and drainage, please see our Season Operating Plan below.
Due to critical work required on several regulators, the Mulwala Canal will also be drained as part of our Winter Operations.
Major bank works will also be completed around the Finley and Blighty areas.
These works have been planned to utilise any potential supplementary event, should it arise early in the 2023/24 irrigation season.
A big thank you to Mulwala 14, 19 and Barooga system customers who have proactively worked with Murray Irrigation to allow our infrastructure crews early access to their channel system.
This will allow us to get a head start on winter maintenance activities.
Water may not be available over winter for stock and domestic supplies because:
We encourage you to fill your dams now to ensure you have adequate water supplies through until August. You can find your Operational Area via the 'My Outlets' tab on your Customer Portal.
Check your water allocation account balances head of season's end.
You can find details in your Water Allocation Report in the Customer Portal, or call us on: 1300 138 265.

Applications for Murray Irrigation’s 2023 Community Sponsorship Program are now open.
Now into its sixth year, our annual grants initiative supports a broad range of local projects and activities across our service footprint that promote community participation, safety and wellbeing.
Western Murray Land Improvement Group has been able to purchase
two defibrillators thanks to the sponsorship funds they received from
our 2022 program.
The group's
Marketing and Communications Officer, Leona McConnell,
said these lifesaving pieces of equipment will benefit the Barham community in an emergency.
“One of the machines is displayed outside our offices at 27 Thule Street Barham with 24/7 public access,” Leona said.
"The other is displayed in our offices and is intended to be mobile,
brought along to field days and other events where phone reception
and medical attention may be limited or untimely.
“Community members and groups are also invited to borrow the
mobile machine for upcoming events which can be done by visiting
our office.
“Thankfully, neither machine has been used since purchase. However,
staff are trained to use the machines and it is a comfort to know that
we will be prepared if someone in our community requires their use.”
If you know of a local community group or organisation who might benefit from an injection of funds to help get their project off the ground, please don't hesitate to point them in our direction.
