AFL legends to headline Moulamein men’s night

AFL football legends Brian ‘BT’ Taylor and Matthew ‘Richo’ Richardson will headline a men’s health night at the Moulamein Bowling Club in February.

The event, which is sponsored by Murray Irrigation and Transgrid, will be held at the club from 5.00pm on Saturday 15 February, 2025.

Moulamein Bowling Club has organised the health night as part of its efforts to support healthy, viable and vibrant communities through safety and wellbeing initiatives for club members and the broader community.

Club General Manager, Courtney Atkins, explained: “We want to get our community together and have everyone at our club, which is the hub of the town”.

She said the club is delighted to have secured the services of such high profile AFL personalities, and has thanked sponsors Murray Irrigation and Transgrid for helping to make the event possible.

Brian ‘BT’ Taylor is a lead commentator for the Seven Network and Triple M radio. His ‘Roaming Brian’ television segment on Seven has cemented his popularity with the public. Brian’s hosting and TV experience extends beyond football through his involvement in new Seven Network programs including The Great Weekend, The Real Full Monty and Mates on a Mission. He is described as “a humble, generous and engaging character who is heavily involved in community and charity work and giving back to the game at a grassroots level”.

Matthew ‘Richo’ Richardson is an AFL legend, respected analyst and a Richmond icon who is loved by football fans. He is described as “one of the most humble members of the AFL community”. 'Richo's' ability to engage, entertain and inspire has enabled him to make a successful transition from football to the media industry, where he works with the Seven Network and 3AW. His professional achievements, personal values and easy-going, caring and respectful nature are among the reasons ‘Richo’ is loved by all parts of the footy community.

“It is such a privilege to have these AFL legends in Moulamein,” Courtney said.

“We are looking forward to a big crowd to enjoy their presentations and also take home important men’s health messages.”

Health resources will be available on the night from 5.00pm, with the guest speakers on stage from 7.30pm. Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

Entry tickets are only $10, with all entry fees to be donated to the mental health charity, Movember. Tickets are available from the Moulamein Bowling Club or its website, www.moulameinbowlingclub.com.au.

Buses will be provided to transport patrons to and from the event, travelling from Barham and also picking up from around Moulamein.

Murray Irrigation Chief Executive Officer, Ron McCalman, is encouraging the company’s customers, especially those in the Moulamein and Barham region, to support the Men’s Health Night.

"Murray Irrigation understands the importance of community health and wellbeing, particularly in rural and regional areas," he said.

"We welcome this opportunity to sponsor an event which supports the health of men living in our local community, including those in our farming sector.

“It is important we look after ourselves and each other, and the Moulamein Bowling Club event  supports this goal, while also providing what will no doubt be a fun and entertaining night for all who attend.”
